BP’s ERL K24 Stroker hits the dyno – 245whp/201tq

BP’s ’04 RSX is quite the sleeper.  Under the hood lies the 2.5L ERL K24 “Budget Stroker” bottom end with stock k20a2 head and z1 cams.  Additional components include the ASP Header, ASP 3″ Aluminum exhaust, RDX 440cc injectors, and dyno tuning via K-Pro.  The z1 cams and valve-train are the limiting factors on this set-up.  This engine was built for a 300whp+ NA set-up and will soon see either the Drag Cartel Stage 4 or Stage 5 cams with larger injectors.  We hope to see around 315-330whp on this naturally aspirated set-up with the addition of the cams.

Overall, the preliminary numbers of 245whp/201tq are not to shabby considering we had dyno temperatures of 101 deg and IAT’s of 120 deg with 38% humidity.  On an ‘ideal day’, we expect to see another 10-14whp in ideal weather conditions.

Compared below is the K24 Budget stroker (Run_021) to a stock K20a (Run_006) with CAI, full 2.5″ exhaust, and Hytech Race Header.  For the peak power number guys out there, we redyno’d this K20a at a later date in ‘ideal’ conditions and we made roughly 232whp.  The conditions from the 2 runs are essentially identical (temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, etc).  With more time, I feel that the K24 could have picked up another 10-15whp to make around 260whp and show even more impressive midrange gains.
